In 2022, I traveled to Spain to complete El Camino de Santiago — the ancestral Portuguese route — by bicycle with my childhood friend, who now lives in Vimianzo. Located in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, Vimianzo is known for its medieval Castillo de Vimianzo, a historic fortress that now houses a crafts museum and hosts live exhibitions.
While I was there, I was offered the opportunity to paint a series of murals beneath the bridge directly across from the castle. My original plan had been to backpack around Europe, but I decided to stay in Vimianzo and dedicate my time to this project instead — an opportunity too special to pass up.
The experience left me with a deep connection to the place and a promise to myself: to return to Europe someday and continue exploring, this time with a few murals’ worth of stories already behind me.
